The term visuals relates to the artform of a VJ editing video sequences in real time.  Visuals  started out as a kind of live cinema at raves and in clubs to provide a visual experience to the largely abstract electronic music. Evolving computers and VJ video mixing software have allowed VJs to disseminate short animated clips and mix found footage from the internet with custom footage filmed on readily available dv and hd cameras.
